Our story begins at Manatee County Judicial Center - in courtroom 2A to be exact. There was a Gal in a purple dress who was working as a therapist that caught the eye of a Deputy. After a few weeks of awkward exchanges between the two, the Deputy finally made his move and asked the Gal for her Instagram. The Gal took a day or so before finally sliding into the Deputy’s DM’s. From there, Amanda (the Gal) and David (the Deputy) began to exchange messages. After talking with one another almost every day and going on a few causal dates the two decided to make it official and the rest is history.
After a very unconventional kick-off, due to an untimely death of a family member and COVID, we were able to overcome the emotional rollercoaster, as well as, the isolation of puzzle making, nerdy movie/show binge sessions and barista creativity. Soon we were able to break out of the apartment and enjoy adventures together such as hiking and going to Disney – you know, normal things.
David soon began looking at houses as the apartment was becoming cramped and hey, let’s be honest here, those post COVID interest rates were mighty enticing! We ultimately found a community in Parrish and the house building began, which came with its own set of challenges. We then went through blending our family together to include Amanda’s son!
Soon after the completion of our new home we introduced a new member to our family. Kodak. A black and white roan German Shorthaired Pointer (Thanks Brian!). This little (runt, who’s now 50lbs) bundle of hyperactivity and joy help cement our relationship with a mutual responsibility to love and care for. We had ups and downs with learning the dog training ropes from our friends at The Dog Wizard (Thanks Tyana, Leanna, Josh and Renee!) but we soon overcame most (not all) of Kodak’s stubbornness and have taught him to be his best self on and off leash. Kodak was such an inspiration in our life that we decided to do something even crazier, add another GSP named Dobby – who completely lives up to his name by the way. Dobby’s training went the same way and we are proud to say they are both living their best lives here at home and on vacations to the mountains. The two are inseparable, much like us!
These are just some of the highlights of our story and there is much more to be said and to experience in the future. Check out some of our pictures down below for some additional highlights (uploaded in no particular order)! We can’t wait to continue adding memories on our path of life!
